(3 votes, average: 10.00 out of 10)When I started drawing this comic I did not realize how serious this eruption would become. I had information that this was only an under glacier eruption.
Hopefully this won’t be as damaging for us as when the volcano in Eyjafjallajökull erupted.

A new eruption started at Grimsvötn volcano, located under the Vatnajökull icecap late on 21 May yesterday evening at around 17h15 local time.
The eruption was preceded by only 15-30 minutes of intense seismic activity and started at around 19h15 pm local time. It created a large eruption plume above the glacier, reaching of 15-20 km height (50-65,000 feet), which is larger than last year’s Eyafjallajökull’s plume last year and makes it the largest eruption on Iceland since Hekla volcano in 1947.
Iceland review reports that a group of people stayed in a hut on Grímsvötn volcano the night before the eruption, but had left on Saturday 6 hours before the eruption started. The group noticed nothing unusual, but another group that climbed Hrútafellstindar mountain in the southern part of Vatnajökull glacier said they smelled suphur on the morning of 21st May.More than 100 people climbed Öræfajökull volcano, Iceland’s highest peak, on Saturday and saw nothing unusual. Aww, it’s not *that* hard. The key is in knowing Icelandic phonemes, like the fact that ll sounds like tl. I’m still the only American I know who can actually pronounce (and even spell) Eyjafjallajökull!

Hjörtur has advised me not to talk to anyone about this incident so it will be easier to maintain my innocents.
I certainly hope this eruption is short lived and does not go on like the last one did. Mother nature is really giving it to us this year.

You live in a beautiful but dangerous country. With all the volcanoes under the glaciers it’s not unlike being between Muspell and Niflheim.
